Video Editor Position Summary:
The Video Editor is a visual storyteller who understands the language of news and documentary filmmaking. You will be responsible for transforming reports, analyses, and graphical content into compelling video productions that reinforce our brand identity.
The employing company is expanding its visual storytelling capacity. Our video unit produces documentary-style segments, animated explainers, and rapid-response news clips that translate our deep analytical reporting into powerful visual narratives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit video content for various platforms, including broadcast-style segments for our website, social-first explainers, and extended documentary features.
- Collaborate with investigative journalists to build narrative sequences that enhance their written reports with visual evidence.
- Create motion graphics, maps, and data visualisations (using Adobe After Effects) to illustrate complex geopolitical situations and military movements.
- Manage all aspects of post-production, including colour grading, sound mixing, and subtitle generation for multi-language interviews.
- Maintain a rigorous and organised digital asset management system for archival footage, b-roll, and project files.
- Ensure all visual output conforms to our strict guidelines for accuracy, avoiding sensationalism and maintaining a sober, authoritative tone.
Required Qualifications:
- 5–6 years of professional video editing experience, preferably in a news, documentary, or current affairs environment.
- Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Proficiency in the broader Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
- A strong demo reel showcasing skills in narrative editing, colour correction, and motion graphics.
- Experience editing content related to conflict, politics, or international affairs is a significant advantage.
- Ability to work under intense deadline pressure, especially when responding to breaking news events.
